Blast Off with Jetpack!

Posted on February 14, 2026February 14, 2026 By Andrew No Comments on Blast Off with Jetpack!

Jetpack provides some interesting and handy new features that help optimize and secure the blog while also improving various existing features.

Security – Downtime Monitoring

Jetpack’s downtime monitor is a free service that regularly pings your website via a server to ensure that your website is running without issues. Should a problem arise, this setting can be adjusted to ping either the user’s email or through WordPress.com’s notifications.

This is especially handy as if there is any network issue that arrives, then Jetpack will email you with status messages as to why the website is suddenly down. This can help settle diagnostic issues and prepare you for if you need to intervene and deal with a network issue or if the problem can be expected to solve itself with time.

Performance – VideoPress

This allows Jetpack to enable the Classic Editor to upload videos onto your website. You’re able to upload a variety of video file formats and adjust it with a few other features:

  • The video’s pixel width
  • Custom starting point for the timeframe
  • Defaulting to high definition video
  • Linking the video title to its URL
  • Autoplay on page load
  • And the ability to loop a video

You’re also given sharing options and video stat tracking for analytics purposes. This is a handy tool for uploading videos since WordPress’s video uploader is limited to 64 MB whereas VideoPress can upload up to a maximum of 1 GB of video total.

Writing – One Click Post/Page Copying

This writing feature allows Jetpack to automatically copy and paste a post or page, duplicating most of its contents for rapid-fire content creation. A copied post will retain most of its information, meaning you can quickly get to refitting the post for new information without needing to render the entire page from scratch.

Copy/pasting from other multisites is not possible due to the nature of differing post data. You’ll need to use a converter to transfer this kind of information.

Due to the standardized nature of WordPress’s editor, utilizing this for similar post formats is especially helpful for streamlining the content creation process especially when it comes to similar types of posts such as recipes, guides, and more.
